The Travaglino estate dates back to the year 1111, and was rebuilt in 1868 by Cavalier Vincenzo Comi. It is the oldest estate in the Oltrepò Pavese region, the foremost region of Italian Pinot Noir production.
Manually harvested in late August, hand selection in the field.
Vintification with soft pressure and a long maceration , with the temperature controlled at 22-24° C.. Six months on the lees in steel vats and bottling in March.
Tasting Notes
Young, fragrant and expressive Pinot Noir with notes of light cherry, raspberry and light smoky minerals. Elegant and polished tannins, leave the long flavors of red raspberry, perhaps small red plums, and a touch of white pepper and cloves.
It connects with serenity and it is easy to drink, emanating wild berries aromas and red fruits.
Pernero is a lovely aperitif, to be served with starters and many cheeses. Excellent accompaniment to risottos, roasted duck, rich dishes with sauces.
Also enjoyable a bit fresh with fish soups, and other seafood dishes. Serve to accompany Vegetarian dishes such as roasted vegetables and herbs.
Serving Temperature: 15°C /18°C, 59°F/65°F
