Odoardi - Savuto Rosso DOC - 2005
Odoardi - Savuto Rosso DOC - 2005
Savuto DOC is the Calabrian appellation for dry red wines in the province of Cosenza and Catanzaro and takes its name from the Savuto River. A full body of deep berry and chocolate flavor with hints of menthol and licorice. Dry and beautifully balanced. Enjoy with heavy seafood dishes, cheese and meats.
Winemaking
The Odoardi family has owned land in Calabrias Cosenza and Catanzaro provinces for centuries. The two young brothers Gregorio and Giovan Battista decided to start making wine in the early nineties quickly putting denominations like Savuto and Scavigna back on the map. Trained in the ancient albarello or small tree method without trellising, the vines are capable of developing stronger and more flavorful grapes. The wine is hand picked and lovingly fermented, macerated and aged under the supervision of Italys top wine maker, Stefano Chioccioli.
